Sweden dominates in
leading growth economies

Compared to our Nordic neighbours, Swedish companies keep up well in setting up business in the world’s four leading growth economies, as shown in an analysis from D&B Sweden.
- We represent almost half of all Nordic expansions in the four BRIK countries, says Christer Wiberg, regional representative at D&B Sweden.

Sweden dominates in numbers of business in the BRIK countries, Brazil, Russia, India and China. When comparing the four Nordic countries during a year, Sweden represents half of all business expansions, Norway around 10 percent and Denmark and Finland 20 percent each. In Brazil, Sweden has a representation of 56% of established business, which represents the highest number among the BRIK countries. It is also in the Brazilian market you will find the largest diversity between the Nordic countries. Denmark, in second place, only has a 20 percent representation. China is the BRIK country that, without a doubt, has had the largest economic growth in the past years. Approximately half of the Nordic business expansions in China are part of a Swedish group.

- The only emerging market where Sweden is not in the lead is Russia, where Finland has app. 47 percent of the business and Sweden 38 percent, says Christer Wiberg.

Increased demand

D&B Sweden appreciates the fact that Sweden is outstanding in the Nordic region when it comes to expansion in the BRIK countries and is assisting with business and market information about companies all over the world.

- We have definitely experienced an increased demand in information about these countries from our clients. Apart from supplying information, we assist our clients with business relations management, business risk reduction as well as finding new customers and suppliers in these countries, says Christer Wiberg.

Swedish companies setting up abroad have improved their research as well as their business relations management.

Expand the analysis

In the future, Christer Wiberg is interested in expanding the analysis and compare Sweden to other large EU countries. In addition, there might be an interest in finding out how many companies from the BRIK countries that are represented in each Nordic country. For example, how many Indian companies are there in Sweden compared to Norway? This would work as a parameter when investigating the interest in Sweden as a country of establishment.
