Time for electric cars

Electric cars will be successful in the U.S., Japan and Europe, as most governments have decided to support increased sales and usage. Various incentives have been created for consumers according to Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Nissan and Renault.

More governments have chosen to increase tax subsidies for cars with very low or zero emissions. This is something that is essential in order to reach the market segment goal. Preferentially, the electric car will be used in densely populated cities and districts. In addition, it should be used for shorter trips that primarily are work-related.

Carlos Ghosn also says that electric cars may be successful in the oil-producing Gulf countries, but of course it depends on how much aid the various governments are likely to give.

Furthermore, Ghosn argued that 2010 could be a banner
year for the automotive industry across the global car sales.
