Over 50 percent of Spanish companies lack insurance cover for environmental risk.
52.8 percent of Spanish companies do not have an insurance policy for environmental risks, and only 10.3 percent of the companies that do have coverage have policies that are truly in line with the Law concerning environmental responsibilities, according to a study undertaken by TNS for ACE Europe - Iberia, which included 700 Spanish agricultural and industrial companies.
The study goes on to show that 65 percent of the companies are not familiar with current regulations concerning environmental responsibility, and the fact that since the 30th of April the Government can make it compulsory to have a fund, guarantee or insurance to cover potential environmental damage.
66.5 percent of the companies have not taken measures to ensure they comply with regulations.
