According to a study by Grant Thornton, companies in the Malmoe region are more active than, for example, companies in other cities such as Gothenburg and Stockholm in terms of developing new services and products. The Malmoe region is also better at finding new markets and new establishments.
Malmoe has a strategic location close to Denmark which facilitates trade and, of course, start-ups in neighboring countries, not just Denmark.
The distance to other markets in the region is not particularly far, and the inception of the Oresund bridge has resulted in that start-ups and communications with other markets has been facilitated considerably.
A previously published article showed that other countries have been better than Sweden to find ways to get out of the recession and have dared to invest more than Swedish firms during this particular time in order to prepare the company for the recovery. According to this survey, companies in Malmoe are more active in several areas.
Mats Pauslon, who is the office manager at Grant Thornton in Malmoe says that the Oresund bridge has helped many companies in the region to feel a greater closeness to the continent and other geographic markets. He points out that the region will be well prepared for the recovery.
