A so-called prosperity league is reported each year by the OECD which shows the countries that have done the best and worst during the past year. Sweden has apparently not managed to keep up with previous year’s success, but the countries that have done much better are the United States and Norway.
The purchasing power of the countries´ population is what has played the greatest role in this. In this study, they put the focus on GDP per capita and figure out what people really get for the money they spend.
Sweden was doing really well in the 1970s but since then it has gone downhill. Back then, Sweden ended up as number 4 in the survey. Now the study shows that Sweden actually is one of the countries that has managed the past year the worst. However, the situation is worse for other countries. The countries that have fallen back the most since 2007 are Iceland and Ireland.
The countries that have improved their position on this list are Norway and the United States. In addition, Austria and Australia are making progress. The U.S has its advantages in the large population with an incredible number of opportunities for international businesses and offers the largest and broadest market of them all. There are opportunities for every business both now and in the future.
