New Times & New Challenges!

The temperature rises in Sweden and everything is neither due to global warming nor the COP15's failure in Copenhagen. 2010 will be an exciting year, particularly because it is an election year and Swedish employers are not too happy with Swedish federations of labor unions with LO in charge.

Swedish employers have had enough of the
Swedish federation of labor unions LO, or the stated message of the last Christmas present - Your requirements reduce Swedish growth and therefore your actions are not good for the Swedish welfare - What if this is true?

This would mean that the federations of labor unions slows down the creation of new jobs, which reasonably should not have happened since we have a youth unemployment rate of nearly 30 percent, and most of us wonder why no labor market changes are introduced? Are Swedish federations of labor unions the reason that we all are looking for?

Growth is interesting and Growth leads to debates.

Just take a look at China and the US acting during the climate conference COP15 in Copenhagen - Growth was before everything. Despite all the “games behind the scene” and all threats to the earth, the U.S. and China's kept their opinions. Growth is a number one priority and we will not change our opinion no matter what you, whoever you are, think about this issue.

It is obvious who is in charge of the future developments, but we must hope that someone from the EU can try to be in charge in the future.

Right or wrong?

But this is a standpoint in the U.S. and China that we in Europe and particularly in Sweden should consider. Because it brings one thing, greater competition for AB Sweden within globalization and the message should be interpreted in the way that the focus is completely on the industry and jobs in both the U.S. and China. This is a standpoint that strengthens and secures their future welfare.

A globalization that we in the North are already struggling to cope with and where our tools consist of various forms of grants to provide temporary artificial solutions to the industry that has had the best lobbyists. Not a long-term solution, in other words, more an emergency measure for branches in need of support.

A wishful thinking would be that Swedes adapt the approach that exists in China and the United States. Protect and prioritize the industry and real jobs, but probably it will be as usual, there will be a new flu, and we will get infected regardless of election results in September.

I wish you the best in 2010
