Increased exemption from duty within the EU will save big money

The EU Council has decided to approve exemption from duty for nearly 100 new products in the form of tariff suspensions and tariff quotas. The European Commission estimates that the EU industry will save 20 million Euros per year in regards to this.

While new suspensions are imposed, a number of suspensions
have been deleted and is hereby repealed.

The deletion applies to suspensions that have been in effect
for a long time but now are not used or exploited in a too small scale to qualify for continued exemption. Swedish importers are hardly affected at all by the deletions that have been made.

Apply for exemption of duty for "your" products

Did you know that your company can save money by applying for an exemption for goods that your company imports?

The precondition is that the goods are input goods that should
be used within the manufacturing industry. If you also can clarify that there is no production of these goods within the EU and that the duty that should be payable at least is 20 000 Euros per year, then there is the possibility that the Commission grants exemption to "your" goods.

In total, the EU's system of tariff suspensions and tariff quotas
generate a saving for European companies for almost 625 million Euros per year.
