Sweden has been allocated 46 million Euros, for infrastructure, by the EU Commission. The money comes from the EU:s support for TEN-T (European transportation network) and is intended to make transports by people and goods as quick and easy as possible in the EU.
- The fact that Swedish projects now get additional funding shows that we have really good and competitive projects that are important factors to improve proper transport in Europe, said the Infrastructure Minister Åsa Torstensson.
Today, a total of 510 million Euros was awarded out in which 46 million went to the Swedish projects.
To the project “Motorways of the Sea” between Karlskrona - Gdynia in southeastern Sweden over 17 million Euros has been allocated.
The aid will go to Alvesta cargo terminal, coast to coast line Emmaboda-Karlskrona, measures in Karlskrona Port and electricity connections at Stena Line.
In addition to the support for Motorways of the Sea, means are also given to Malmo Central, receiving 4.6 million Euros, a study for new river-connections Gothenburg-Marieholm tunnel received 2.1 million Euros and installation of automated equipment for the new train signal system ERTMS were allocated 22 million Euro.
