The relations between Sweden and the U.S. are very good. The cooperation covers a broad spectrum of issues and there is a broad and substantial consensus. Extensive international travel and the many millions of Swedish-Americans on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean link our two countries.
The U.S. is one of the most important sources of foreign direct investment in Sweden.
Approximately 110,000 job opportunities in Sweden are found US-owned companies. Major U.S. investments in Sweden are also available in various types of consulting services, the IT industry and the defense industry.
Swedish companies are, in turn, well represented in the United States. Approximately 200,000 Americans are assumed to work in Swedish-owned enterprises, just over half within the service sector.
Virtually all major Swedish companies currently have some form of presence, manufacture or sale in the United States.
The U.S. has a great knowledge of Sweden due to our successful athletes. The fact that Sweden has 50 players in the NHL is something that Americans are impressed by.
