Norwegians are employed by the State

Establishment Abroad has been in contact with Lars-Kåre Legernes, responsible for the Norwegian Chamber of Commerce in Norway.

We wanted to know what it looks like right now in Norway
in terms of the economic situation.

Lars-Kåre says that right now, it is pretty much only the Norwegian
government that hires.

Within the EU, there is an average of 18 percent in the proportion of employees hired by the state in each country. In Norway, the figure is now the entire 30 percent.

When Swedes think of Norway, we usually think of oil and wealth. Lars-Kåre says that Norway has a lot to offer. They have a large offshore industry and many major global companies such as Jotun, Veritas and others.

The image of Norway as a country without large companies
outside the oil industry relates to that Norway has no business with consumer products. This means that Norwegian companies are not receiving the global awareness as other countries that have companies in the consumer sector.

Lars-Kåre says that the financial crisis still affects Norway.
The major companies are careful, both in terms of new employment and new ventures - investments.

However, in the Norwegian economy has a great interest in new global markets.

When the Norwegian Chamber of Commerce has events about start-ups in new countries, there is a great interest from Norwegian companies wanting to explore their opportunities to find new markets for their products and services.
