North East England is more attractive to Swedish IT Startups than Silicon Valley!

With the possibility of funding up to £ 90,000, support from regional organizations and the industry and close collaboration with five universities, North East of England appears to be one of the world's most attractive places to start and run businesses within the IT field.

- With five universities in the region, we are privileged to
have access to trained personnel, says Herb Kim CEO of Codeworks, the regional development center for innovation in IT in the North East England and continues: Supported by Codeworks, companies can get in touch with competent staff and quickly become integrated into the regional economy.

Today, 27 Swedish companies are based in North East England. And recently, six Swedish IT companies visited the region to establish contacts and to evaluate possibilities of cooperation and establishment in the area.

IT companies in North East England are primarily engaged in
E-learning, publishing, tourism, design and game development. The region has several large international companies such as Sage plc, Euthechnyx and Mere Mortals.

- More than 10 percent of all game developers in the UK are located in northeastern England. Codeworks has extended the cooperation between regional companies and companies abroad through a very sharp and well-functioning infrastructure, where Codeworks helps businesses to establish themselves in the region, says Herb Kim.

Just like Codeworks, the regional development agency One North East has invested a lot in the digital area with over £ 20 million in funding for the Digital City in Tees Valley which strengthen the region's expertise in animation, game design, digital film and sound, visualization and virtual reality. Sunderland Software CITY supports the region's software industry and can assist companies through all phases of development from the start to continued investment.

- We have been successful and have positive experiences in working with Swedish companies in their establishment in the North East of England. We provide a confidential, free service, working closely with companies to identify business opportunities in the UK, through enabling them to develop their business internationally, says Alex Allan, investment advisor at One North East.
