Green Packaging – The concept for the future?

To attract start-ups is high on the agenda in many countries, and this has led to that the development is progressing rapidly in how the environment and businesses should look like in order to compete for future business.

A region that has chosen a favorable way is the
United Arab Emirates. Here, new so-called "Free Zones" are continuously developed and progressed with different emphases.

One of these zones is ENPARK, which stands for "Energy & Environment Park” and it is located in Dubai.

ENPARK land: 8 million square feet

This free zone emerged as the investigations showed that
water consumption in the Arab Emirates was the highest in the world per capita, 500 liters of water consumed per day. This means that we would need 10 planets to provide the world's population if everyone was at this level of consumption.

In addition to high water consumption, electricity consumption is twice the global average, which ultimately is neither sustainable nor acceptable.

With this fact, the free zone ENPARK was established with goals and objectives to reduce energy consumption and introduce powerful new behaviors in order to develop new "green concept" which will be applied in all stages of production regardless of product or service.

Here, there are environmental investments in all aspects.
Everything from maximizing energy efficiency with the most modern technology for water, electricity and ventilation. Furthermore, all buildings within the zone will be environmentally certified through the LEED - certificate, "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design" which takes building materials, buildings, environment and energy expenditure in several segments into account.

Only environmentally certified cars will be allowed to operate on streets within ENPARK and they will actively work to implement new projects for the future in energy with respect to the automotive industry.

Everything from lighting and computers will be controlled in the smallest detail, for example, there are clear rules for how IT environments should be energy efficient. For example, computer screens are not permitted to be “on” if they have been inactive for 15 minutes.

A lot of automated processes will monitor buildings, energy consumption and environment. They have also developed an environmental certification for websites - Green Certified Site. This may be seen as a carbon calculator, which converts to carbon dioxide emissions depending on how much energy input computers and networks consume per visitor for each site.

ENPARK offers One Stop Shop – This can be explained that
you will find everything you need for the establishment in the zone under one roof, ranging from company registration to help finding the right competence. You are welcomed to establish regardless of industry.
