Brazil is a huge market. Establishment Abroad has spoken with Ib Sønnerstad at Nopef who says that Brazil is a market that is currently interested in many Scandinavian companies.
Most companies that want to reach out to this enormous market are within the industrial sector. If you want to establish business in Brazil, you will pretty much be forced to also have production in place.
On one hand, brazilian people are very patriotic and prefer to do business with a domestic company.
But the biggest reason is that the Brazilian government has a customs duty system which means that if one imports the products, there will be a customs tariff of 20-30 percent, says Ib.
The market is obviously great in this large country, but there are still serious problems with corruption.
Logistics in Brazil works very poorly. There will be investments in substantial resources from the government that hopefully will address the current troubles.
