That a small community such as Oxelösund would be this year's Entrepreneurial municipality was not expected. This year's Entrepreneurial municipality is a joint project done by the Swedish Federation of Business Owners and UC.
The best result for Oxelösund is in the category sales - which had the third highest growth rate in the nation. The entire 65 percent of Oxelösunds limited companies reported an increase in turnover. Meanwhile, the average turnover increased by 14 percent compared to the previous year.
- It is remarkable how offensive entrepreneurs in Oxelösund have been during the year. Particularly since the conditions were exceptionally tough last fall. There are small businesses that will take Sweden out of the crisis, says Anna-Stina Nordmark Nilsson, CEO of the Swedish Federation of Business Owners.
- Happily enough, the study shows that the deep recession has not significantly affected the turnover of the country's businesses. However, such gains have been suffering. Out of 286 municipalities, only 45 have a general log where more than half reported improved earnings compared to last year, says Anders Hugosson, CEO of UC.
The purpose is to pay attention to the communities where entrepreneurs performed the best during the past year. The study is based on companies' financial statements for 2008.
