Ukraine is a young market

The business climate is changing quite rapidly in Ukraine. More and more people discover that it is profitable to be honest in business. The biggest barrier of doing successful business in Ukraine is the lack of legislation and problems with authorities.

The Ukrainian market is in its formative stage
. In general, the interest to cooperate with foreign companies is large. It is often easy to come into contact because the Ukrainian market is still young.

In many industries, there are few companies which makes it relatively easy to find the right partner. Since many things are new, it is not always certain that there are established procedures or accepted principles of procedures in the business context. Corruption occurs.

The key to success is to take enough time to get to know
the country and market. Spend time to find a reliable business partner and ensure that they have good relations with the relevant authorities. It is important to be present in the country and not think that business can be “controlled" from Sweden.

To establish manufacturing of any kind may be of interest
in Ukraine, especially because the local costs of salaries, premises and raw materials are low compared to Sweden.

The average salary is only 5000 SEK a month.
Skilled workers with language skills may however expect higher salaries, about double or more depending on work experience.

The sectors that expect the biggest growth in Ukraine are;

  • Energy and Environment
  • Textile
  • Construction, furnishings industry (especially wood)
  • Telecommunications (IT and mobile)
  • Tourism
  • Agriculture and Food
