Business take-over is still the tool for growth and to reach out to new geographic markets. Other important reasons are to achieve economies of scale and access to lower cost structures.
One third of respondents in Swedish medium-sized companies are planning an acquisition within the next three years, according to a study by Grant Thornton Sweden.
From an EU perspective, the companies will increase their acquisition activities. In a study by Grant Thornton France, four out of ten companies plan for merging or company acquisitions to achieve further growth.
Mainly, we see a higher level of activity from companies in the euro countries, where the currency strength provides advantages against the pound and the U.S. dollar, which is a motivating factor for entering new markets.
