Cross-border cooperation is becoming an increasingly bigger part of everyday life and as an employee of ICA, there are opportunities to work abroad which also includes experiencing new cultures.
ICA has two owners: Swedish ICA Federation
Invest AB and the Dutch company Royal Ahold. Ahold is one of the world's
largest retail companies and has operations in Europe, USA and Latin America.
The fact that ICA is part of this large group provides many opportunities for
the company's employees. In the group, there are also a number of well-known professions such as marketers,
human resource managers, controllers and logistics. Many believe that ICA only
is established in Sweden, but ICA is another company that has decided to
establish abroad. The international contacts in the every-day work situations
are increasing in all areas especially in the framework of various joint
projects. Many of ICA´s employees have daily contact with the group of
employees in other countries, and some are working on longer contracts abroad.
Every year four young ICA employees get the opportunity to work in Norway or
Holland, which could lead to a personal and professional development for many people.
There are also plans to expand further. They already have operations in five
different countries and have plans to open up an office in Hong Kong which
would be a major step in the development. The purpose of the office will be to
streamline the control of purchasing, logistics and human rights due to the
increased trade of Asian products.
One of the most interesting new markets in the food industry is the former
Eastern European countries where Western companies both build new and invests
in existing businesses. Within this large geographic area, ICA aims for St.
Petersburg in Russia.
