IN PARTICULAR, SmartCity Malta will target six distinct ICT segments.  These segments are strategically divided into companies that specialise in software, internet & multimedia, telecommunication & network, IT services, Business Process Outsourcing (BPOs) and hardware.

SITUATED ON THE Southern-East coast of Malta, the USD 300 million development - constituting the largest foreign direct investment to Malta - is on a prime site facing the Mediterranean Sea with a total surface areas of 360,000 square meters. The main thrust of the project will be office space and this will entail 51 percent of the gross built-up areas. The rest of the site is dedicated to open spaces that are accessible to the general public, residential and hotel accommodation, and retail facilities. Construction of the first building will commence in the fourth quarter of 2008 and is scheduled for completion between the first and second quarter of 2010.

SmartCity Malta will be host to hundreds of companies, generating
5600 new jobs and providing a great boost to Malta’s economy.

SMARTCITY MALTA forms part of SmartCity, a global network of self-sustained townships facilitating the creation of knowledge based industries. This network combines TECOM’s specialised expertise in the creation and management of knowledge based industry clusters, with Sama Dubai’s strength in real estate development in the international market. This blend of expertise will be creating an infrastructure and environment catering to the requirements of knowledge based companies and knowledge workers.

SMARTCITY OFFICIALLY launched to the international market in June 2008, SmartCity Malta has already generated considerable interest from local and regional players in the ICT industry. Providing a great boost to Malta’s economy, SmartCity Malta  is the catalyst through which Malta’s vision to become a leading technology country is fulfilled.
