IN ADDITION TO connecting Russian customs terminals to a warning system, beginning January 1, 2009, Russia will transfer to an automated information exchange with 20 EU countries. Among others are Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Austria, Czechia, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. The reason for automating the declaration of contents is to facilitate transfers by the Russian borders in the future.
WITH THESE CHANGES, a new coordination centre has been built by the Russian customs academy where Russian customs officers are being educated and simulation trained for various situations. Customs documentation has also been adapted to European standard for the WTO union.
